On the 29th of October 1923, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk declared that Turkey would be a republic and renamed it as the 'Republic of Turkey'. The leader in the War of Independence, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk became Turkey's first president on the same day. Many people in Turkey celebrate Republic Day by attending performances and participating in traditional events with flags and musical bands. Happy 95th anniversary to The Republic of Turkey.
